A designer by profession, Martin is the creative lead and founder of the soundkaos philosophy of building outstanding transducers and having fun whilst doing it. He has a passion for music and design and is a non conformist who prefers to think outside the box. Lemming syndrome is not part of his vocabulary. Having searched a lifetime for the ultimate sound illusion - to come as close as possible to reality - led him to extreme solutions like solid wood and instrument tone-wood for enclosure constructions. He discovered that even in todays technology driven industry nature still has a few tricks up its sleeve. He is an avid listener of original sound creations which is essential to have as a reference when designing transducers.
Great sound comes from good design.
Principal/owner of CE Electro Acoustics, a UK based consultancy specialising in engineering design of electro acoustical products. Chris has been instrumental in supporting the soundkaos concept and has been involved in developing its sonic foot print. From simulation of concept to final voicing he has brought a wealth of experience to the various transducer designs.
A master craftsmen if ever there was one, he runs - together with his partner Petra - Wagnerei Oehrli a wheel wright company, manufacturing anything out of the ordinary that can be made from wood. Be it a re-build of an early 20th century car chassis in timber , a 6m diameter water wheel re-construction or a series of ladies hardwood handbags for a Swiss jeweller, he does it with the renowned Swiss quality and precision one expects. And don't think just because the profession of wheel wright is virtually extinct he is not into technology. His machine park includes a 5-axis CNC, wood turning lathe and all other manner of machinery which would put any wood worker shop to shame. If Simon can't do it, it simply can't be done.... well not quite, Simon says there is always a way. Now that is commitment.
